Boyd’s expertise and confidence on the topic of spiritual

warfare in the life of the Christian is contagious. Without fail,

students express a greater understanding of the spiritual realm and

as a result are able to walk in confidence rather than fear as a result of sitting under his teaching. This comes about as spiritual eyes are unveiled to realize true identity in Christ. In practical ways students learn to live free in body, mind and soul in everyday life.

 

Boyd presents in a relevant, earthy manner. Through props and simple object lessons he communicates deep biblical truths that are profoundly important in the life of a Christian.

 

Personal concern for students issues is arguably Boyd’s greatest strength as he regularly takes the time for prayer ministry in one-on-one settings. Many times we have been able to witness students pointing to these times of prayer as pivotal in their journey learning to walk in freedom.

We are a small town boarding school that draws students from across Western Canada and beyond. Pastor Boyd Hopkins of Spoken Word Ministries has been invited repeatedly to our campus over the past five years. Although we are a Christian school, we have students from every walk of life and faith background including many to whom Christianity is completely new.  Boyd's ministry has met them many of them right where they were at.

 

Previous to my work with LCBI, I worked for 18 years with Youth For Christ and had the privilege of hearing a multitude of speakers. Boyd's ministry with teenagers is a rare and powerful find. Hundreds of teens have found him to be so real and approachable that they can, sometimes for the first time, actually "hear" that perhaps they could be acceptable to this Jesus that Boyd speaks so passionately about.

 

Boyd's approach is not fluffy or sugar coated; he speaks truth in love, showing teens and adults spiritual truths that thay have often never understood before.

 

In our context, Boyd has most often been called on to speak at three day events that we call "Faith in Life" events. He has spoken to large groups during multiple presentations throughout the day and he has made himself available for individual prayer times with students in between sessions. Over the years many students and staff have experienced increased spiritual freedom that has come to them as a result of these times of prayer.

 

Boyd, and some of his associates, have also taught prayer ministry skills to our Campus Life department and we staff now use this teaching in our day to day ministry with our students.

 

Having access to Boyd's teaching, speaking and prayer times, after 20 years of ministry, has brought new life to my own spiritual journey and has powerfully changed the way I minister to others.
